A SIMPLE OSCAR VIEWING PARTY

Julip Made Oscar Party7 Although the Oscars are all about glitz and glam, to me, the perfect viewing party will achieve that without much fuss.  A flavorful popcorn bar paired with a champagne cocktail bar that offers a variety of options for your guests achieves that easy, but glam vibe.  This simple Oscars viewing party lets your guests sit back and enjoy the show with more than just your standard movie popcorn and soda.  More importantly, this party will take you minutes to prepare and let you enjoy the show with your guests.
Julip Made Oscar Party5 For the champagne bar I wanted to provide a variety to satisfy all palettes.  I offered several mixing options for guests to play with:
  • several types of bubbly including a rose, a brut, and a demi-sec
  • flavored liqueurs to mix in (pomegranate and elderflower)
  • bitters (Angostura, Pechaud's, blood orange, and grapefruit)
  • garnishes (pomegranate seeds, lemon peels, sugar cubes, and rosemary)
Julip Made Oscar Party4 For the popcorn bar, I made a giant batch of fresh popcorn on the stove, drizzled some melted butter over top, and created several flavor mixes that guests could pick from.
  • Spicy (1 tablespoon cumin, 1 tablespoon corriander, 1/2 teaspoon chipotle pepper)
  • Salt & Pepper (use a 1/2 and 1/2 ratio)
  • Sweet (2 tablespoons sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon)
Julip Made Oscar Party6 For both the popcorn bar and the champagne bar I created instructions for the guests by writing on a large piece of butcher paper and fixing it behind each bar.  Make sure to provide individual bowls for guest to mix their popcorn in and champagne flutes for their cocktails.  I had straws available for for sipping and to enable guests to mix in their champagne 'extras'.
