Having gone to school in upstate New York and having survived some of the freezing cold nights walking across the gorges with the FROZEN waterfall below, I learned that a great way to warm up is a hot spiked drink. Hot toddy's are one delicious option and especially good when you have a cold. Another equally warming option is this cardamom spiked coffee. It offers warmth, caffeine (obviously another plus), and the slightest hint of spice. I'd suggest serving this for dessert alongside with these possibly following an ice skating session or in sympathy with the team USA athletes while competing this February.
- 1 pot of coffee (I use my french press)
- 2-3 cardamom pods
- 3 oz whiskey
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- Brew a pot of strong coffee.
- Drop the cardamom seeds into the coffee as it is brewing and let steep.
- Add in the whiskey and sugar.
- Pour, serve, enjoy!
