Julip Made Thanksgiving quoteThis time of year lends itself well to being a reminder to be thankful and grateful for all that we have in our lives.  However, something Caitlin said the other day in this post, got me thinking and had me nodding my head in agreement: the concept of expressing gratitude every day to the ones you love, for what you have, and to yourself as way to live more in the moment and be more mindful of the day to day.

Now I wouldn't go so far as to say that I feel like I'm in a rut because the past year and year ahead of me will be big ones.  Yet some days (especially now that it gets dark so early) I come home and feel like I haven't accomplished anything and progress on tasks like our new home, my business, and our wedding planning is moving so slow that it is in fact a rut.  When I actually take the time to step back and look at how far we've come in the past two years and what is in store for us in this next year, I am in awe and completely filled with gratitude for all those who have made that possible and supported us in our endeavors and for the most wonderful and supportive partner.  So in addition to employing some organization strategies and reducing TV time, I am making a mental note to express my gratitude daily and to be more mindful of all of the good things going on in my life.

Do you ever feel this way, especially around this time of year?  Or is this just a late 20's feeling?

  1. The getting dark so early thing has SO much to do with me getting this feeling -- can definitely commiserate, sometimes it's just a matter of turning off the TV (like you said), or checking a few extra things off the to-do list, or of making plans that are just for making you happy on the weekends. And being grateful for it all, too, of course!
