Julip Made black bean hummus Halloween5 With one of my favorite holidays right around the corner and a murder mystery dinner party planned, I'm pulling out all of my favorite Halloween party recipes.  This black bean and garlic hummus is no exception.  It is easy to make, a crowd pleaser, and looks the part of something oozy or creepy for Halloween. The carrot fingers add the perfect touch of whimsical and humorous for the evening.  Best part, use the leftovers for easy breakfast burritos with scrambled eggs!
Julip Made black bean hummus Halloween2 Ingredients (make 2 large salads)

  • 2 cans black beans, low salt, drained
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons tahini paste
  • juice from one lemon
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • salt and pepper to taste

  1. In a small glass bowl, mix the olive oil and minced garlic. Heat in the microwave for 30 seconds to release the flavors and aroma.  This also cuts down on the bite of the garlic so your party goers won't smell like they are trying to ward off vampires.
  2. In a food processor, mix the garlic and olive oil, black beans, tahini paste, lemon juice, and cumin.  Blend until smooth.
  3. Salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Serve with carrot wedges as "fingers".  Also accompanies a cheese board or crudite platter.
  5. Enjoy!
