MY LOVE AFFAIR WITH BHLDN AND WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING

Julip Made BHLDN1 I have been enamored with BHLDN since their opening way back when this blog was in it's beginning stages. The simple modern feminine elegance of their gowns, their bright, fun party dresses, their chic, yet classic decor... what is not to love. I am not a poufy, overly lacy, "cupcake" type wedding dress girl. I love the long, lean and elegant look.  Right away this eliminated most designers and stores. When I got engaged I knew BHLDN would be at the top of my list for dress sources. It so happens I was lucky enough to have a trip to Chicago, one of the two BHLDN brick and mortar store locations, coming up. I immediately booked my appointment.
Julip Made BHLDN5 Let me also preface this by saying that I did go to J.Crew to see some of their dresses because they do also offer simple, yet elegant options.  However, the fitting experience between the two stores does not compare (more on that below).Julip Made BHLDN2 Julip Made BHLDN3 I arrived early to scope out the store and some potential bridesmaid/ rehearsal dinner dresses before.  Although I won't be having a specific "bridesmaid" dress for all the girls and am letting them pick their own, BHLDN offers beautiful dresses that could actually be worn for other events after the wedding.  I know every bride says that, but with these it would actually be true.  Some of my favorites for the rehearsal dinner, bridesmaid, or just party-goers were this, this, this, and this.   Julip Made BHLDN6 Julip Made BHLDN4 They even have a few offerings for the groom and groomsmen.  Julip Made BHLDN7 Julip Made BHLDN8 After scoping out other dresses I met with Emily, my super sweet and helpful stylist for the day, to try on a few of my favorite gowns.  I won't share details or pictures of what I picked for obvious reasons, but I will say that this fitting experience was exactly what you would hope for or expect from a fitting.  The fitting room was spacious, decorated to perfection with a gorgeous Persian rug, velvet settee, and glass chandelier.  I was made to feel at home with sparkling water and bubbly in beautiful vintage flutes.  Unlike previous experiences, I was made to feel relaxed and was not rushed through the process.  Emily was helpful, but not pushy, opinionated, or overtly "selling" products. She even gave me some awesome recs for restaurants that I took her up on and ended up being delicious!  Julip Made BHLDN9 Julip Made BHLDN13 After my fitting and purchasing the dress, I took some time to wander through the decor section and gather massive inspiration from their adorable displays and even added to my ridiculous paper straw collection (see below).Julip Made BHLDN11 Julip Made BHLDN10 Overall, BHLDN is a wonderful resource for brides, hostesses, and party goers.  Even if you already have your dress, I'd recommend checking them out for potential accessories, decor, or other party dresses.  In terms of the quality, I checked all of the dresses I looked at/ tried on for the seams, structure, construction, and fit and saw no obvious flaws.  Note, I was not sponsored or given compensation by BHLDN to write this, I just really enjoyed my experience there and was truly impressed by their products and wanted to share my experience there with you all.

  2. So exciting! It makes me so mad to think that some sales people rush brides through this once in a lifetime experience! Seriously, their smoke break can wait. On another note, congrats on your TEG feature lady!

  3. Congratulations! It's so exciting to find "The Dress". I was so lucky to have had a wonderful experience at the little boutique in my hometown where my dress is now patiently waiting for my upcoming wedding :) Also, I recently visited BHLDN in Chicago and it really is *amazing* you're so right. I wanted to buy everything in the decor section.
