Julip Made Chicago1 As I mentioned here,  I was lucky enough to be able to extend a work trip in Chicago with the Boy to become a mini-vacation.  It was a quick trip, but I had enough time to wander around the city as a tourist and snap a million pictures.  Inspired by Sophie, I tried to document as much as possible of our trip and share it with you here in picture format. What a lovely city it is.  I feel like if it weren't for the cold weather, we both decided that we'd live here in a heartbeat.  Looking forward to another trip back sometime soon to try to cross a few more must-eat restaurants off our list.

The second was a series by another Liz from What Dress Code? about a topic I've recently been thinking a lot about: living in the now and keeping balance between blog, work, and real life.  Responding to her questions were even helpful to me to think a few things through so check it out and let us know if you've figured this work/blog/life balance out yet either.

  1. Great pics -- Chicago is definitely high on my list of must-visit cities! And thanks for the shout-out, enjoyed kicking off the series!

    xo, Liz

  2. Hi Julie! Meg here - we were in the same class year at Cornell. I just stumbled across your blog via the Everygirl and am so happy I found it! What a great eye you have. Oh how I wished I had studied graphic design at Cornell! Lol! I'm glad you enjoyed Chicago (I live in a suburb of Chicago). Would love to chat sometime about blogging, entertaining, cooking, nostalgia for Cornell, or all of the above! xo, Meg

  3. I love Chicago too!! Countless great things about that city. Glad you enjoyed it!

  4. I live in the Chicago suburbs- the next time you come, you must visit a little bohemian cafe called the Bourgeois Pig. It's in Lincoln Park, easily accessibly by the "L" train, and has the most amazing food and atmosphere. Be sure to bring a book or a good friend. I always end up staying a while.

  5. LOVE these photographs. I've been dying to plan a trip to Chicago and these photos are making me want to go even more. Glad to hear you had a great time!

  6. You visited some of my favorite spots in the city!!
