Not that I can't appreciate a fancy dinner out with the SO for Valentine's Day, but there is just something so much more romantic about working together to craft a meal and then sitting down to enjoy the results. I am also not a huge fan of the prix fixe situation on Valentine's Day and everything that comes with it... overcrowding, hiked prices, and to be honest not the best efforts from kitchen staff. To understand what I mean, read this Bon Appetit article. Your solution... a romantic meal at home for two.
For sipping: Blood Orange Classic Champagne Cocktail
To start: Pear and Fennel Salad
The main event: Pan-Seared Duck Breast with Cassis and Pommes Anna
Drink with: Syrah
A sweet finish: Grand Marnier Zabaglione with sliced strawberries
Are you an eat out or stay at home Valentine's Day type? Or are you an ignore the holiday all together type? We should show our love year round right.
Phil and I actually celebrate President's Day because V-Day is too stressful! It's kind of our favorite thing because it's just ours.
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of a romantic dinner for two at home :) So much more to savor, I think! And, I may need to steal that entire menu...YUM! XO Brynn
ReplyDeleteThis looks delicious!! Josh and I have a tradition, established on our second Valentine's day together, of getting chipotle burrito bowls and eating a them at home over candlelight. I have actually never been out to eat on valentine's day and i have no desire to ever.
