In an effort to relive my vacation I thought I'd share some of the best bits of our travels with you all.  We shall call the the European Diaries Part 1: Portugal.  As I've mentioned, I've already fallen in love with Portugal from my travels to Lisbon and south, but this trip we went all over northern Portugal.  I didn't think it were possible, but I love the country even more.  The north us fill with lush, green mountains, sparkling rivers, quaint towns, ancient castles, and some of the most delicious produce, wines, cheeses, and presunto I've had in a long time.  Overall the north is like a breathe of fresh air.  See below for more details of our trip.

  11. Oh, Julie, your photos are breathtaking. I don't know how you were able to pull yourself away and return home. The architecture in the city, the sweeping landscapes in the countryside, and wine tasting (!) have me thinking that I need to add Portugal to my travel wish list.

  13. Hello Julie! I've just stumbled in your blog (through Apartment therapy) and I was so glad that you like so much my country! Portugal isn't cherished as it should be by Portuguese people (we destroy everything that is good and natural in name of the so called "progress") but there are still lots of places that maintain their natural beauty :) as your wonderful pictures prove it!
I also love Portugal although we still continue to have bullfights and consider animals as objects in our constitution... That's the main thing that makes me ashemed of my own country...

But please come more often. You are always welcome :)

  15. Hey Julie! :)

Well, I also found your blog thru Apartment Therapy and it was an amazing surprise to see my country so beautifully showed here! And you're right - the north of Portugal is just amazing. I'm a city girl, born and raised in the capital, Lisbon. So, as you may imagine, I love going to those villages to rest and to enjoy the view and the beautiful landscapes we have.

It makes me really happy to see that Portugal is gathering so many fans! Once you come here, you do fall in love. And you're more than welcome to return here! :)

  17. Many of my friends were used to discuss about the bad experiences they had while travelling to the far off places. I asked them, did they ever tried to find, who provides Cheap campervan Hire in Gremany? They looked at me with curiousness, so I suggested them to visit the website of ‘RV Rental Network’, one of the most reputable web portals that helps finding the top campervan hire services at varied locations. It is unarguably a comfortable experience to spend a travelling vacation in a motorhome, because you will not have to be dependent on the public conveyances and there will be no need to book the rooms at expensive hotels at the different locations.
