Melon Sour

IMG_4988 At our local H-Mart aka food wonder-store, I found these adorable small Japanese melons that smelled better than any honeydew I've ever smelled so obviously I had to buy it.  Then I obviously had to make a cocktail out of it.  I've been wanting to try a cocktail with egg white in it similar to the Pisco Sour or traditional Fizzes.  The gentle flavors of melon paired well with gin and the egg white gave it the perfect frothiness.  See after the jump for ingredients and recipe...
IMG_4976 Ingredients:
  • 1.5 ounces gin
  • 1/2 cup melon pureed
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 teaspoon powdered sugar
  • dash Angostura bitters
  1. Strain melon puree.
  2. Mix melon juice, gin, lime, egg white, powdered sugar and Angostura bitters over ice in cocktail shaker. 
  3. Shake vigorously.  Pour over ice to serve. 
  4. Garnish with melon wedge and enjoy!
