My very best friend/ wishful sister (the one you've seen frolicking around this here blog before
here,
here, and the inspiration for the office I designed
here) recently turned 25 so obviously a Girl's Night in Dinner Party was in order. We wanted a low key dinner in with just the girls, which of course ended with us manning up and going out for an extremely fun night afterwards. For the dinner, I wanted extreme girly-ness (read pink) and sparkle. See after the jump for more pictures and details of how it came together with tips for how you can recreate the look yourself...

The "place mats" are really just large pieces of sketch paper that I quickly water colored on and can be made to easily fit any theme, plus they give a pop of color to a white tablecloth. Instead of name cards, I wrote each girls name in the upper left corner, which saves time and effort. The table itself was relatively with white place ware and clear stem ware. I added color with the place mats and a combo of 3 varying shades of pink flowers (Gerber Daisies, African Roses, and Tulips). I added sparkle by digging into my Christmas ornaments and using my mini-disco balls and silver glitter ornaments. This is an inexpensive tip to add some extra interest to your tablescape.

I designed the menu so it could easily be printed on a black/ white printer, cut out and then dabbed some glitter on the disco ball. By wrapping the menu around the napkins and silverware, it was easily accessible to guests and helped coral the silverware on the plate. The menu itself was designed for an easy after work assembly. The Creamy Lemon Linguini with Arugula, Smoked Salmon, and
Crème fraîche recipe I found
here and definitely recommend! As for Old Maid cake... that was a joke. The cake was actually a lemon, cranberry, cardamom cake made by one of my other friends, also delicious!

Oh I love the personalized placemats!
