Project Apartment: The Bookcase

023 Project apartment is finally revving up again. It all started back with my 25 before 25 post with the goal of finishing and photographing my apartment. I finally got my act together back in February to share my kitchen along with some kitchen styling tips with you. Then I put together a list of bookcase styling tips. Well FINALLY, here is the product.. my living room bookcase. I felt like it deserved it's own post because there are so many details and let's face it, when you live in a one bedroom apartment, the tour is pretty short. shelves In a rental with mandatory white walls, a bookcase can provide much needed color, detail, and texture. I also use my bookcase to display favorite keepsakes (my late grandmother's elephant), trinkets (my Breyer horse sprayed white), DIY's (the gold striped box), and decor pieces (my awesome pink bookends, a giveaway from Liz). Another tip that I discovered and finally did... remove all the nasty paper covers of your hardcover books because you might find a combination or rich colors and metallic writing underneath (see image above).

  4. Love that you mentioned to take the paper covers off of your hardcover books - I couldn't agree more! Also loving your Breyer horse. I may need to take a trip home to unpack my big box of Breyer horses and break out some spray paint! Such a great idea.
