If Bloggers Ruled the World... with Sabra from The Lonely Wife Project

Today's IBRTW participant was one of my very first followers and blog friends.  She is ever witty, encouraging, a fellow gourmande, and has the absolute cutest fur-babe on the interwebs.  Not only do I have a feeling that we'd be fast friends if we ever met, but I'm pretty sure our pups would be too (see below).  Please welcome Sabra from The Lonely Wife Project and be sure to stop by for some laughs, eye candy, killer cocktail recipes and more!

IBRTW AV Long Distance Loving Thank you Sabra for participating and for bringing up a cause that is near and dear to my heart.  As I've said before, I have nothing against purebred dogs or against buying dogs from reputable breeders.  My only request is that you first consider if a rescue would fit into your family (from either a shelter or a breed rescue).  If in case you do decide to buy instead of rescue, please, please, please, do your research first and make sure the breeder is responsible and even visit their kennels to make sure they provide a clean and loving environment for their pets. Visit here for more information.

  5. Rescue dogs are the sweetest! We have two amazing dogs from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue in DC who come from high kill shelters in South Carolina. When we were looking to get our first dog, I was pretty set on a certain breed, I told my close friend who is good friends with the President of Humane Society and I quickly received an email from his secretary listing out all the ways to tell if you are working with a reputable breeder or a puppy mill. I got pretty upset reading all the horrible things that happen at puppy mills that I did not even want to have the slightest doubt in my mind. After our first rescue I could not imagine doing anything different. These cuties need a good and loving home after everything they have gone through. You can see them here:) http://www.theyoufinder.com/home/2012/04/10/marzipan-marley-mar-mar/

Thanks for shedding light on this issue Sabra! Although we got our dogs from breeders, we did our homework.

  8. Love the cause- we adopted my pup and she's the sweetest thing ever. I don't judge others who choose not to adopt (one of my friends is highly allergic to most kinds so was limited) but definitely think you should look into adopting first. Our pup just couldn't be taken care of but my sister-in-law adopted a dog that was abused and came from a terrible home. She still gets skittish when new people come into the house and has food protection issues which just breaks your heart.
