A little random of a post, but something that's been on my mind... food styling. Food is always on my mind and one of the reasons I started this blog, to share it with others. More recently, cocktails and drinks have been making appearances as well. However, I realize that if I want to truly share this passion with you all, save for actually having you over and cooking for you (if you're in the area I'm always down for a dinner party), I need to improve my food photography and food styling skills. I also realize that when I am browsing for food inspiration, the recipes that stick with me or actually get "pinned" to my food board are those that are the most visually appealing.
There are a million resources and inspiration sources out there including blogs, magazines, cookbooks, books, eating out, cooking in... Some of my favorites for recipe inspiration are Bon Appetit, Saveur, Smitten Kitchen, Greedy Gourmande, Vmac+cheese, and the Perfect Last Bite.
For actual food styling and photography tips, I've found the following resources and am excited to read more.
This weekend I plan on spending a little extra time experimenting with my food (I think this is one instance it's ok to play with your food!) and working on my food styling skills. Where do you get your cooking inspiration from? Do you care what your food looks like or do you just gobble it right down (no judgement here)?
