New Apartment Preview

In April, the Boy, Odin, and I will be moving back into DC in the Tenleytown/ Cleveland Park area into our second apartment together.  Although I will miss being within walking distance of Ray's Hellburger, one of DC's best burger joints, I am super excited to be back in the District and to no longer have carpeting.  Living with a large, shedding dog and attempting to entertain often, cleaning can be a pain to say the least.  I was able to sneak in while dropping off the deposit to take a few preview pictures for you...

Living room.
The building is an older building with beautiful hardwood floors and molding, located within walking distance of several grocery stores, lots of retail shopping, and Rock Creek Park.  The kitchen is a little bit smaller than we would like as both The Boy and I are self professed foodies, but hopefully with the addition of a breakfast bar for a place to eat and extra counter space we'll make due.

One of the casualties of our move will be our giant leather couch, which was a hand-me-down from my parents.  It is bittersweet because it has been in the family for a long time and is the type of couch you can completely sink into and spend hours mindlessly watching terrible reality television.  However, it is wearing past the point at which the leather looks better aged and needs to be retired.  The silhouette is also a bit heavy for the new space.

The trusty couch and my completely sane dog.
Another view of the couch.
The couch has also provided Odin with a place to watch "Dog TV" otherwise known as squirrels and dogs walking by outside the window.  He will miss it dearly.  I however, will be starting our new couch hunt.  I am hoping to find something a little smaller with feet to bring the appearance of more space to the room.  Also, maybe a chesterfield or tuxedo, with a bit of masculine presence for the Boy to counter balance some of the more girly elements in our living room.  Color TBD, but thinking a rich navy blue or Mad Men-esque charcoal gray.

Stay tuned for a couch hunting post later this week!
